But today it is their mini diffuser portable that is the star of this post… I absolutely love it.. It has found its place in my living room, but has also become my travelling companion, that never leaves my backpack…
How does it works ?
We tip the essential oil mix of our choice into the little reservoir of the diffuser, we switch the On button and the job is done.. It will begin diffusing oils by heat, very slowly over several hours or more, depending on the quantity that we have added. Note: Do not forget to top it up after each use, and to also clean the little reservoir properly, if we change oil…
My anti-insect kit is 100% naturel ..
In order to keep insects at a distance at home or during my travels, I have adopted a mix of essential oils of the « “anti-pique” » variety (also by Puressential), made from citronella, lavender and eucalyptus which is ultra efficient.. and also its scent is really pleasant, as opposed to the majority of anti mosquito sprays that are much more chemical and artificial.
I then connect my diffuser in my bedroom with this mixture, at the end of the day and let it diffuse through the night because it stops automatically after 8 hours.. This little device takes up hardly any place and plugs directly into the socket so do remember to pack an adapter for different countries. And for backpackers who sleep under the stars, apply some drops of essential oils such as citronella and lavender to the strategic zones of the body (ankles, folds of the elbow, neck, wrists etc… ) Add some of the “anti-pique” /anti bite spray and you are all set for a serene night… And in case of stings, the puressential roll-on is brilliant for calming itches ?
=>Depending on the destination, the insects can be more tough than others, this is the case in Africa, or even in the Maldive Islands or in the Caribbean for example .. In these places, it is common for bedrooms to have mosquito nets, but if it is not the case, it is good to carry one in your bag so that you can install it above the bed or in the tent ..
So to summarize ; we must have in our suitcase, the nomad diffuser + the citronella oil mix “anti-pique” + the soothing roll-on + the mosquito net .. and we are good to go..
And sometimes not so natural ..
As I do not take any anti malaria treatment (“far too aggressive” for my taste) I am a little more precautious in risky areas during my trips .. When I went out in the evening in Zanzibar for example, it was compulsory to wear long clothes which I had sprayed beforehand with the 5 out of 5 anti tropical insect spray, plus a few drops of essential oils on my skin and especially on my wrists, neck, ankles and to finish, I also wore an anti mosquito bracelet, that was also coated with essential oil.. And due to that I never experienced any problems. I use the 5 out of 5 spray on my clothes only, as my skin is very sensitive and it is very toxic.
I’m actually not really a fan of it, choosing for the most part to treat and ward of using natural medicine, like the Puressentiel anti pique spray which we can apply directly to the skin and which smells a lot better. I will actually be testing this one as soon as possible so that I can get rid of the 5 out of 5 , I will let you know how it turns out…
Home sweet home ..
And of course, upon returning home, we can use this little device as an anti mosquito or just as a room spray, diffusing many of the different available oils or blends, specially produced by Puressential such as relax, meditation, air purifying blend..You can also tip a few drop of simple essential oils like lavender for a Zen feel, eucalyptus to clean the energy or ylang-yang for a romantic evening. There is a little something for all tastes… In any case, this little device is extremely valuable, so go out and get one for yourself now..
