As you can imagine, I was extremely excited to test their capillary treatments and their hair dyes that are made using 96% of natural ingredients, that I have never tried before but that I have heard a lot about.. So I made an appointment at the Salon & Spa lifestyle Aveda Montecino in Paris for a cut and colour, and to treat myself and my hair to some treatments that were definitely needed following summer holidays…
Girl’s afternoon ..
So I found myself at the Aveda salon on la rue du Louvre street ready for some pampering.. And after a warm welcome, and a nice cup of home made ginger tea, it was time to get down to business: What to do? Cut, a little or a lot? Colour ?
First of all the diagnosis was pretty unanimous, my hair is ultra light, dry and with a few split ends…without even talking about the colour which is completely drained from the sea salt.. However I was not mentally ready to go overboard with the colour, or to cut too much off my hair, still in holiday mode, my hair has a sun kissed look and goes well with my tan and the Paris Indian summer. All of the team were super patient with me and really listened to what I had to say, and after several negotiations we decided to cut off 10cm.. So the hairstylist performed a pre cut on dry hair (yes at Aveda they cut your hair while dry as it gives a more realistic look at the final result, when you cut on wet hair it does not have the same length or texture as the final look, this is actually a much better way of doing it)
I spoke alot with the colourist (adorable and gave great advice) She advised me to go darker, but at that moment it was out of the question to go from really light to really dark.. No way. And also it is still too warm and nice outside, so for this time I decided to keep my original tones and just give back some shine and gloss to my length using their gloss colour application which gives your hair a sublime finish…. During the application and the wait for the colour to take effect, I was treated to a 5 star service, Aveda herbal tea and manicure. A real girly moment.. and after rinsing, we finished with a nice treatment (Botanical therapy Damage Remedy)which helped to deeply repair my hair…
The Aveda colours are not organic, but are essentially made up of natural pigment and ingredients. They do not harm the hair or a lot less than chemical products do. And actually, I found that the colours that I used smell really quite nice, and specifically do not have that salon chemical smell like many brands that are less natural. So here too that is a very positive note.
Blowdry, style and a little bit of serum to the ends of my hair and voila, bye bye surfer hair and hello brand new hair, shiny and soft.. I am completely thrilled!! (Of course it is impossible to re create the salon waves at home, but I do try to blow dry properly to get this wavy style)…. Concerning the maintenance , i will redo a glossing at the salon from time to time to bring back the shine and the color, and use some of the Aveda hair cares and shampoo…
To find an Aveda salon it is here, they are everywhere in France but the only Salon & Spa lifestyle is the Montecino in Paris… Concerning the products (beauty and capillary), we can find them in all hair salons or at Sephora..
Episode 2, hello Autumn …
Since Indian summer is gone, I have been back to Aveda to get into Autumn/Winter mode.. this time I took the advice of my adorable colourist. We decided to cut more, and go much darker gradually, starting darker and going lighter towards the ends, from the roots to the ends to give a ombre effect. Gloss rince and blow dry.. And here too I cannot find fault..The colour is sublime, the cut also, I love it !! Emmanuel my hair dresser did an amazing cut, and it is quite rare that I leave a salon feeling so happy, but here it was really perfect !
This time I need to maintain the colour using the shampoo Color Conserve, the Masque Color Conserve and the Conditioner pigment Clove.. I will follow the instructions to a T and I will get back to you asap with the results 😉 Nearly 1 month later and my colour has not faded, and is still pretty and shiny…
Huge thanks to the team Aveda !
