# DIY : homemade toothpaste

Capture d’écran 2015-05-23 à 23.32.09My little sister who is a naturopath always gives me some great ideas and healthy recipes.

On her advice, I have decided to experiment the homemade toothpaste.

Of course, this experiment was so successful that it became my daily routine.

Every week, I make my own natural toothpaste in a little glass jar. It only takes me a few minutes and I really enjoy doing it .

So let’s make our own healthy and organic toothpaste, and drop the old chemical and toxic crap 😉

Many natural recipe includes white or green clay, but my favorite is the one with coconut oil.

what you need :

– 1 cup of organic coconut oil  (if the oil got solid, soak the jar into warm water for a few minutes to soften it )

– 1/2 cup of baking powder

– a few drops of organic essential oils  (tea tree, peppermint, lemon, orange… )

Mix everything together with a wooden spoon and add a few drops of water to make the mixture smoother.

Store it in a jar with a lid et voilà, fast and easy 😉

– It takes a little while to get used to the texture of this homemade toothpaste as it is really different from the “normal” one.

You can try several recipes to taste different textures and see which one you like the most ..

I am not so crazy about the white clay for the toothpaste but I really do love the coconut smooth consistency on my tooth.

– You can buy coconut oil in any organic store’s food department (and not in the beauty area, believe me 😉
