# Room tour // Living room .. Hygge is the new chic ..

Hi there,

It’s finally time to continue with the room tour and today I am showing you around the living room, which is almost finished, even if it is still missing some things in terms of decoration, especially on the wall. As we are going to India and some other countries soon, I’m waiting to see if I find some nice things to bring back. In terms of inspiration, we wanted something cozy yet clean, Hygge /Scandinavian-style, with white beige and gray tones, natural materials like wood and some repurposed pieces
..

The lounge space ..

As soon as we arrived in the apartment, we removed almost all of the doors to open up the space (before this the living room was closed off by two large swing doors and the kitchen was the same.) Next, to fill up the white space, we decided on a couch from Maisons du Monde (the Japan model in gray, link here) and we covered it with cushions for a cozy feel and no one was happier than the cats ^^( well we removed a few cushions for the picture but there are 5 or 6 of them).

We added a white ceramic cube with plants and candles… We fell for this piece, made in Asia using artisanal techniques, which we found in the store Compagnie Française de l’Orient et de la Chine (CFOC). They have such beautiful and quite exclusive things ! And mostly artisanal. It’s the kind of shop where you want to buy everything. They have several stores in Paris and you can also buy online.

We then added a giant off-white rug which we got made at Un amour de tapis. It’s huge, and so nice and thick. It’s exactly what we wanted to keep with the cozy nest theme. The rabbits love it. For the details of the rug, we chose this model:  Epaissia Deluxe in off-white, 200x 300 .. Depending on the measurements you want, your rug is tailor-made in around a month. They deliver it to your home and its perfect.  You can get 10% off on their site with this code: MGIC10.

The wooden armchair is vintage and the coffee tables are basically two tree trunks and a giant piece of driftwood that Peter brought back from the beach. I adore them as I love having driftwood and natural things like pine cones, stones and plants around my home. It reminds me of the ocean and the forest – perfect for bringing good vibes. (Pine cones cancel out waves emitted by electrical equipment so we always have some near the TV.)

For the TV corner, we sticked to the Scandinavian style with this white stand from Miliboo (Melka collection, link here). Their products are quite expensive for furniture you build yourself but they are good quality. It’s basically a chic version of Ikea with a much better finish and a more on-trend vibe.

The “dining room” space ..

I wanted a white round table, a kind of a” Tulip table “. As original ones are so expensive and often way to big (we haven’t got a 100m2 living room!) we found what we were looking for at Maisons du Monde (them again ;). It’s the Circle model, link here. The table is beautiful and exactly the right size – not too big and not too small- but it is quite fragile and can get scratched easily so placemats are a must (we found some handmade ones in pale pink lacquered wood, again in my favorite store, la Compagnie française de l’Orient et de la chine ^^).

We added a lamp Bs living ( link here) above the table to dress up the wall a bit and create a nice ambience in the evenings. We also chose two other lamps from the same brand in a small size, which we put in the bedrooms. They have some really nice ones, I’ll show you the others asap.

As for chairs, same brand By crea and same concept as the kitchen stools which I wrote about in the last home décor post (here). They are hand-made in Sweden. We chose the Freja model in pale gray (white gets too dirty) with a white frame. We love them as they are really comfortable yet still chic and they go really well with the round table. (link here ).

>> As our cats love sleeping on the chairs and leave tonnes of fur which sticks to the fabric, I put little placemats in white faux fur from Casa shops over the seats to protect the velvet. It works really well. The fur doesn’t stick and the chairs are protected.  We just have to shake them out once a week and it’s all good.

That’s it for our living room tour. We feel so at home here. It’s super bright and opens onto the balcony so it’s lovely. Hope you’ll love it !
