# a day out in Paris : Brooklyn Exposition @le Bon Marché Rive gauche

Several days before leaving for New York I was able to attend the Brooklyn exposition at “Le Bon Marché » .. Sometimes, everything on the calendar just fits into place… This was the perfect occasion for me to wander around, window shopping New York style, and soak up the creative spirit of Brooklyn, with its trends, fashion, beauty, decor and designs that are all the rage this season.

The staff at”Bon Marche” had scoured Brooklyn, high and low, before returning to Paris with their selection of designers and favorite accessories.

There is fashion for men and women, there are bags and T-shirts, magazines, books on the lifestyle and culture of ew York, organic cosmetics, decorative objects and homemade crafts, house plants, and Brooklyn-stamped kitchen utensils …Basically everything !!!

Not to mention the ubiquitous American “Mason Jar” , a barber-shop for your other half, stickers, colored goodies, and even accessories for trendy dogs, some of which are for charities and good causes like ‘”Found my Animals” which encourages the adoption rather than the purchase of animals.

There is even something for little ones, and moms will be pleased to find books, clothes and adorable decorations for the nursery…

Food lovers will not be disappointed either because the “Big Grocer’s shop” has a wide selection of things… It’s aisles are  packed full of typical US produce, green and organic, but not only that, the most highly-anticipated products like peanut butter, popcorn, granola and pickles are there in all their  splendor. It’s also possible to find slightly more unusual things for us Frenchies, such as Kale chips, which are definitely worth a try..

You can also sample different US dishes and meals, in one of 3 different restaurants: The Table (first floor) , Balthazar (level 1) and the Brooklyn Bar (situated at the entrance to the Big Grocer’s market. )

All are open from the 28th of August to the 17 of October.

And to finish this little shopping detour in the middle of Bon Marché, what could be better than a little snack at the Brooklyn Bar in the Big Grocer’s Market. Special mention goes to the chocolate cake, enveloped in a kind of biscuit, yummy !! 1000 calories a piece, but worth it !

Hurry, it is extremely popular, and it’s not uncommon for it to be sold out…

=>Plan B : The Brookie, a  cross between a cookie and a brownie, is not too bad either.

 To sum up …

The positive points: most of the creators and designers are responsible, engaging, and are very firm in their support of Brooklyn’s « Green Spirit » activity. They basically favor local organic, natural and even recycled produce.

The drawback: The prices! Certain items are a little on the expensive side,  considering what they are. You can be sure to find something that you love, among all the accessories on offer, but if this is not the case , you can still be content with window-shopping, and a nice slice of chocolate cake at the end.

This mini New York will transport you all afternoon, and if nothing else, is worth the detour . It’s there until the 17th of October; for more info click here.
