Chance works in mysterious ways… It just so happens that I live near the Brooklyn bridge, a few blocks from THE place where they sell the best cheesecake in New York, and apparently, in the world…We’ll see.. So we set off for “Juniors” the cheesecake paradise… Other Junior’s were recently opened in Manhattan but the original is in Brooklyn. The funny thing is , when Brooklyn was still a dangerous place to live in, people would come all the way from Manhattan or even from further just to get a cheescake at Junior’s..This place is really something here, but in actual fact, it ‘s nothing but an old and crowded restaurant, which looks right out of an old american movie.. The old fashioned design and people ordering, eating in or taking away creates a dreamlike atmosphere… and here are the cheesecakes, in the middle of this surreal old school and a bit creepy décor..We are really spoiled for choice, and after much deliberation decide on a mini cheesecake, which happens to be a plain and simple one..
Verdict ..
As you can imagine, usually this kind of cake is not my thing at all, but I have to admit that in small quantities, with a cup of tea its not bad, not bad at all even… and its true that this one was especially good for a cheesecake… The consistency is perfect, the pastry perfect, the taste is subtle and not too sweet, something rare for the US.. and contrary to what I have eaten before this was actually quite light and airy.. “Juniors” definitely deserves its title of best cheesecake of the city !
Of course each time we chose a mini portion as it is still quite heavy and sickly to manage a full piece.. The good news is that the cheesecake keeps in the fridge for up to 1 month, which allows you to treat yourself from time to time, and it gets better the longer you keep it.Mission best cheesecake accomplished, we will be returning !! And if you’re visiting NYC, don’t forget to grab your cheesecake at Junior’s ! !
