# SOS broken nail..

We have all, at some point, broken a nail … A sharp movement and boom, we are left with a broken nail, hanging on by the smallest thread … or this moment when all our nails are long and beautiful and that one one rebel nail decides to break on the edge, by the limit, just where the pink part of the nail begins …. What a catastrophe 🙂
But luckily, there is a simple and fast solution to avoid cutting the nail straight across where it has ripped… the “plaster” for the nail.

DIY : a plaster for the nail ..

For this you will need:

And of course a broken or damaged nail, or one that is starting to weaken at the edges. (The nail is only fixable if it is still hanging on by a thread. If it is completely broken off, leaving only a short nail, we can only wait patiently for it to grow again )

Step 1 / Preparing the nail

  1. Wash hands thoroughly, and carefully clean the surface and the bottom of the nail to be repaired, with a small brush. Wipe.
  2. Apply the emollient water to soften the cuticles, and push them away gently with the cuticule pusher . Wipe with a paper tissue.
  3. Polish slightly the surface of the nail, and file it to shorten slightly , or to give it a more attractive form.

Step 2 / Apply the plaster  :

To repare the nail, use the adhesive silk wrap or a little piece of white kleenex, kitchen rôle, or even toilet paper doubled.

Personally I prefere the second option, as the outcome is more natural and not as thick, but both ways are very effective.

  1. Cut a little rectangle of silk wrap or kleenex (kitchen roll or toilet paper doubled)
  2. Apply a tiny dot of glue onto the tear/broken edge.
  3. Apply the “plaster” onto the tear and use the boxwood stick to adjust it. Leave it to dry for a moment.
  4. Cut away any excess wrap or paper using the cuticle cutter.
  5. Add a spot more glue. Again, leave it to dry.

Step 3 / the final touch :

  1. File delicately the suface and the edges of the nail and polish lightly with the other side of the polisher.
  2. Apply one coat of matte nail polish to protect the plaster and give it a more natural finish. You can also use a ‘strengthening‘ nail polish to protect and  harden the nail even more.
  3. Apply a top coat of pink base for a natural manicure ; the BB nails pink base 8-1 treatment by Peggy Sage which I love for exemple .
  4. Apply some hydrating handcream and a little cuticle oil around the cuticles, and you are good to go, the nail is repaired 😉
