Where to stay ?
Sea point / Cliffton / Camps Bay ..
I always chose the Sea Point district such as falling point, because it is the most pleasant place to live.. Situated between Green Point and Camps Bay, just next to the ocean, it is not too hot due to the proximity of the sea there, and we have everything we need… For me, it is really the ideal place to live. There are numerous restaurants and shops in the main street, as well as some hotels and guesthouses.. Make sure that you plan well in advance as everything is fully booked at the height of the season. Rb&B is also a good solution for a short stay… It is also, in my opinion, the district the most “safe ” in Cape Town.. We feel good and relatively secure there, which is not still the case in the city bowl, especially at the end of the day for woman alone for example . With the exception of castings which are mostly in the town center, I rarely walk in the city, because I prefer to stay at the edge of the ocean whether it is to eat or to go for a stroll..
Sea point is also one of the most expensive districts due to its location and its numerous assets, so you need to plan and book in good time if you want to find a free room. Otherwise Cliffton and Camps Bay are also very pleasant, but even more expensive …

Where to eat ?
We eat very well in Cape town.. there is something for all tastes and preferences… fans of meat, fish, good wine, junk food and for all vegetarians, vegan and raw food addicts, there is a wide variety of choice, and at a very reasonable price!
@In Town :
- Le Plant .. The only vegetarian restaurant that really won us over .. Everything was good and the raw deserts were out of this world… We are spoiled for choice and tempted to try everything…
- La Food market du V&A Waterfront .. no doubt you will find something tasty, fresh and delicious there ..
- Le Skinny leg& all ..This adorable little cafe situated on Loop Street, serves the most delicious mango smoothies, and the homemade chocolate cake is simply gorgeous. I love having a snack or lunch after castings..
- For the non vegetarians and the coffee lovers there is a huge choice of cute coffee shops and restaurants that line the streets of Cape town ( Loop street, Kloof street, Long Street and Bree street .. )
@Sea point :
- Posticcino : The best ravioli that I ever ate was in this amazing italian restaurant .. home-made pasta, pizza .. everything is good .. it is the only moment of the year when I eat pasta, but it is impossible to say no !!! And the pizza is truly amazing ..
- Mykonos Taverna .. In Sea Point’s main road, on the other side of the Italian, is this Greek restaurant that we truly love .. also a real delight and very reasonable..
- Le NV-80 .. Looking for a more “fancy” restaurant? The very chic NV 80 is situated on the Regent road, on 1st floor of the “Checkers” mall .. Food is excellent and waitressing is amazing ! Reservation in advance is advised (021 439 7112/4)
- Osumo .. For a good smoothie at any time of the day (and they also have WiFi) there is Osumo which we can be found at Sea point and Green point…
- Schetckers Raw , Jarryd’s et Knead Bakery .. Those 3 places are awesome for really good and healthy breakfeast ..donc forget to taste the raw snickers bar @scheckters .. And you can find Knead Bakery @Sea point and into the city, @Kloof Street ..
- Nû: Another alternative for breakfast/lunch/snack or super healthy green smoothie .. I absolutely loved it! ..
@Camps Bay :
- Le Bungalow : For a snack bar or a trendier lunch ” with a view ” and a sofa, I adore going to eat spring rolls in the Bungalow on the road to camps bay, here also reservation is imperative…
- Le Baked bistrot : Also on the Victoria Road, just after Camps Bay, there is this adorable cafe that serves excellent breakfast, lunch or super yummy snacks …
- La belle : the perfect place to have a drink or taste a good smoothie and a cake at the end of the day while taking advantage of the view of Camps Bay.
- Umi : Enjoy tasty spring rolls in this japanese style restaurant, located just next door “La Belle” ,on the same floor and with the same great view 😉
Saturady funday …
Old biscuit mill : The trendy outing on Saturdays in the Cape, takes place in this old biscuit factory in Woodstock, where everybody goes to listen to some music and have brunch, and we can also go shopping, as there are many boutiques and shops all in the same place. There are 2 or 3 which are really worth seeing.. Old biscuit mill is very nice, but absolutely crawling on a Saturday, so it is perhaps better to visit it during the week, when it is a little quieter.
In the same street there is a little restaurant which is worth seeing ; Raw & roxy ! Perfect for a lunch or a snack, and stopping here is also a great occasion to discover raw and vegan cuisine, and taste delicious home-made smoothies..
Organic market day : Saturday is also market day, not far from the Waterfront .. From 8 till 2 pm, all the artisans and farmers of the region meet in a corner fitted out with straw bundles and wooden tables .. We spend a very pleasant moment tasting the organic and local products, or specialties .. We can even have lunch .. it is very nice .. We loved it!!
Shopping
There is a bit of everything, but here are my choices and those that stood out for me:
Lorna jane@sea point / Waterfront. And in the V&A Waterfront shopping center, we can find all kinds of brands and boutique we know like Superdry, Chanel, Rip curl, Calvin klein, Sea folly etc .
In Cape Town almost everybody goes in for sport, and often very early in the morning (when I say very early I mean between 6 and 8am) we see most activity in Seapoint street… There’s nothing like an early morning jog along the sea front to to begin the day..
Otherwise there are numerous fitness gyms where we can practice yoga, boxing etc… My favorite is BUC, a fitness gym with an amazing view of the ocean .. This gym center offers a complete weights room and classes of cardio training in the morning or in the evening ; Sweat 1000 .. Why Sweat 1000 ?? Because you will burn nothing less than a 1000 calories .. Be prepared to sweat buckets, but well worth it..
At least once, treat yourself to a solo or duo massage at the Twelve Apostles hôtel & spa, in their little outdoor cabins with a magnificent view of the ocean on one side and the mountains on another… We absolutely loved this one .. Ill tell you about this later ..
# Weather repport : The best time to visit Cape town is between november and march.. It is summertime .. Careful though, the weather changes very fast in the Cape, so always pack a jacket / sunscreen / cap / water in your bag.
# Car rental is essential if we want to be able to travel around the region freely.. Some addresses : Rentacheappie or sfcarrentals .
# As I said, hotels and guesthouses are often overbooked in the height of the season between November and March, to even April.. So plan in advance.. Also, here reservations are often necessary in restaurants which are packed from 7 pm.. We sometimes tried without a reservation but left empty handed and hungry .
# And finally concerning flights, it is necessary to count between 600 and 900 euros for the round trip. Air france sometimes has interesting prices with direct flights (approximately 11 hours). Swiss and Luftanza also offer direct flights (or with very short stopover). We can find flights with very interesting prices on skyscanner / kayak / go voyage.
Et voilà I wish you a beautiful trip in a city that is well worth the detour 😉 And don’t forget, travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer !!
